Government is considering banning convicted shoplifters from re-entering the premises they have robbed as part of the new Retail Crime Strategy to be unveiled shortly.  RGDATA has consistently called for an automatic ban on entering the store when a shoplifter is convicted in court. “RGDATA members have told the Justice Minister, the Gardai and Justice Officials of their deep frustration that convicted shoplifters are back in their stores robbing and harassing staff sometimes just hours after being convicted of the crime in court,” RGDATA Director Tara Buckley commented.
