The Minister for Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, has replied to RGDATA saying “there are significant merits in protecting our National Lottery, particularly in light of the funds that are raised on an ongoing basis for good causes and indeed the support it provides to official agents”. 

In a swift response to RGDATA’s letter Minister Donohoe says he is currently awaiting legal advice on the Bill to ban licensed bookmakers taking bets on the national lottery and will consider the appropriate follow up once he has considered the advice.
