Lotto Jackpot - Play Limits in Retail
With record jackpots on offer in National Lottery Draws here is a handy reminder about play limits and handling suspicious activity.
Are there purchase limits for Lotto tickets in-store?
While there are no official limits to the number of Lotto tickets you can sell in-store, there are a number of issues which may restrict how much you may sell in National Lottery products.
Each National Lottery Agent has a credit sales limit in place which is twice your weekly average over the previous ten weeks period.
If you do receive a request from a player to play a large sum which could affect your sales limit, please contact the National Lottery helpdesk on 1800 22 44 55.
Unusual activity or increasingly excessive sales on your account could affect your sales limit and in-turn, potentially deny your regular customers the opportunity to play their favourite National Lottery games.
What should I do if a player requests to spend a large sum on Lotto?
The National Lottery are urging caution for any retailer who is approached to play an unusually large number of Lotto tickets.
We are asking retailers to remain vigilant and ensure that all purchases are in line with good prudent business practice.
As with every business in Ireland, retailers also have a legal responsibility to fully document any transaction of €10,000 and above. Any such requests should be immediately reported to the National Lottery, An Garda Síochána (Financial Intelligence Unit) and the Revenue Commissioners.
